The development project
Planning and design of this special undertaking has been led by Khenpo Ngawang Dhamchoe in conjunction with the Drogmi Building Committee and with specific input from His Holiness the Sakya Trizin.

The proposed buildings include a Gompa with small library and reception area; a residence for His Holiness and the Resident Teacher; a student dormitory; and cooking and dining facilities. The plan seeks to situate the Gompa and buildings within the steep fall of the land in a way that complements the existing bush terrain while also bringing a distinct Tibetan style to the main building.
Planning approvals are being sought from the local council and other relevant agencies. The final costings will be determined by the final finishings chosen and the level of donations given.

In harmony with the environment
Serenity at your feet
All you hear are sounds of
the Australian bush: the call of
bellbirds, kookaburras, black cockatoos
... and silenceThe Drogmi Retreat Centre is fully committed to living in harmony with our physical and human environments. We are embarking on a project that will provide a unique location for quiet contemplation, meditation and learning. We aim to benefit people for many centuries to come and we want to be known for the environmentally sensitive and sustainable way we have gone about the design of our buildings and all other aspects of the project.

We want this property to become a sanctuary for the local wildlife with the native vegetation flourishing and protected. In years to come, we want all our neighbours and the various authorities that we work with to know that the Drogmi Retreat Centre has made an invaluable contribution to both the local environment and the local community.
