His Holiness’s Golden Jubilee tour followed his Lam Dre teaching in Sydney. During the five week tour, His Holiness visited many dharma centres in New Zealand, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
His Holiness the Sakya Trizin's Golden Jubilee Australasian tour concluded with a special Long Life Initiation (Amitayus) bestowed by His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, Long Life Ceremony and Farewell Dinner, on Saturday 11 July, to honour His Holiness and celebate his Golden Jubilee. These events were jointly hosted by the Sakya centres of Sydney (Drogmi Retreat Centre, Sakya Tharpa Ling, Kyegu Buddhist Institute and Sakya Dolma Choe Ling).
We warmly thank the Sakya and other Tibetan Buddhist Centres around Australia and New Zealand for organising these events. May they gain enormous merit. May all beings be happy!
Lam Dre 2009
In 2009 we hosted the Lam Dre, the most precious of the Sakya teachings and revered by all Tibetan Buddhists. His Holiness the Sakya Trizin bestowed the Lam Dre accompanied by His Eminence Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, His Eminence Gyana Vajra Rinpoche, and Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok Chimey Luding.

Golden Jubilee of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin's Enthronement
His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin was enthroned on 4 March 1959, fifty years ago. Born on 7 September 1945, His Holiness assumed leadership for the continuation of the Sakya order and preservation of the special Sakya teaching, the Lam Dre, at the mere age of fourteen.
Since His Holiness first started teaching outside India in 1977 (first in Singapore, then the United States), during the last 32 years Sakya centres have been set up in many different countries to enable the unbroken lineage to be transmitted ceaselessly and authentically.

Golden Jubilee Australasian Tour
His Holiness the Sakya Trizin undertook a five week tour of Australia and New Zealand following Lam Dre 2009 in Australia. These events are particularly unique and auspicious since they took place during the Golden Jubilee Year of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin's enthronement.

Auckland, New Zealand
His Holiness the Sakya Trizin returned to Auckland for his second teaching trip to New Zealand, hosted by Sakya Droton Ling, where he visited the Tibetan community, many dharma centres in the Sakya and Kagyu traditions, was given a traditional Chinese style welcome, and visited a Chinese temple.
Brisbane and Cairns, Queensland
Returning to Australia, His Holiness travelled to Brisbane, where he gave a public talk, teaching and empowerment hosted by Dharma Chakra Gompa, and visited the Vietnamese temple. From there he went to Cairns to visit Khacho Yulo Ling Buddhist Centre, where he consecrated the centre and bestowed empowerments.
Adelaide and Whyalla, South Australia
His Holiness spent time in Adelaide, giving teachings at Tsechen Thubten Choe Ling, and visiting the Gelugpa centre. He then travelled to Sakya Yigah Choe Ling in Whyalla, where he consecrated the new centre and gave a teaching, public talk and empowerment.
Melbourne and East Gippsland, Victoria
His Holiness travelled to Victoria, where he spent time in Melbourne, hosted by Jamchen Buddhist Centre and Sakya Choekhor Lhunpo (Melbourne Sakya Centre), giving teachings and public talks. He also visited Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary to bless animals injured in recent bushfires. From Melbourne, he went to East Gippsland, and spent time at the retreat being held at SIBA Retreat Centre, giving teachings and empowerments.
Sydney, New South Wales
Returning to Sydney, His Holiness was hosted by Kyegu Bugghist Institute and Sakya Tharpa Ling, where he gave public talks, empowerments and teachings, before the jointly hosted Long Life Ceremony at the conclusion of his extensive and generous tour.
