About Stage of Meditation
Khenpo-la gave teachings on this very important text at the Shamatha Retreat in 2011. Acharya Kamilashila was a great scholar-saint of the 9th Century. It was due to the compassionate activities of such great teachers as these that a complete and unmistaken form of the Buddha's teaching flourished in Tibet. Kamaiashila played a unique role in this because he was the first Indian scholar-saint to compose a significant text in Tibet with a view to the needs of the Tibetan people and with the intention of dispelling the misunderstandings then prevailing there. This text has now become an important resource to those of all levels of study or practice who have an interest in meditation. Here, Kamilasha outlines in very easy to read language and instructions how to correctly practise meditation, from the sitting posture and physical environment conducive to meditation, through to the techniques of calming the mind to prepare for meditation. This is one of the great “how to meditate” texts in Tibetan Buddhism and is a wonderful text to study for those beginning in meditation to the more experienced.
