The Holy Month of Saga Dawa at Kamalashila 2025

Each year at the Kamalashila Tibetan Buddhist Centre during the holy month of Saga Dawa, many generous and kind sangha sponsor lamp offerings to dedicate to their family, friends, world peace and for the benefit of all sentient beings. Each day during Saga Dawa one of the sangha makes physical offerings on behalf of our sponsors if they cannot come to make the offering themselves, reciting all the names and the light offering prayers. 

Light offerings are such a simple, yet profound offering to make. Light symbolises the Buddha’s wisdom, shining on all sentient beings, illuminating the darkness of their ignorance and transforming it into the light of primordial wisdom. This year we have been most fortunate to have scheduled so many wonderful retreats and events during Saga Dawa, some of our regular retreats falling this year within the holy month.

Saga Dawa Düchen

On the most holy of days, Saga Dawa Düchen (Full Moon Day this year was on 11 June), sangha enjoyed a beautiful morning of prayers and chanting led by Khenpo la, with auspicious rice offerings and a delicious morning tea together.  For six nights in the lead up to Saga Dawa Düchen Day, Khenpo la led so many students/sangha via Zoom in guided meditations and mantra recitations. It really is such a special month for sangha to be together and for the individual practitioner to deepen their faith and devotion in the Triple Gem.
